Logrus participated in Translation Forum Russia 2011, an international translators’ conference held in St.Petersburg on September 23-25.
"Translation Forum Russia 2011" is the largest translators’ conference in Russia. This year, there were about 450 Russian and foreign attendants, professionals all in some way related to the translation industry: translators, representatives of translation agencies, developers of linguistic software, clients, consultants, professors and students. It is good to see that the number of both Russian and foreign attendees increased over the last year, and the geographical locations of the attendees became more varied.
Logrus delivered a presentation on the GALA global initiative in translation industry standards. The presentation was delivered by Elena Kozlova, who described the importance of standards for the development of the translation industry and the GALA initiative, an international not-for-profit association, focused on the coordination of standards development, open information and participation in this work, promotion of the standards and assistance in their implementation.
It is not an accident that it was Logrus who delivered the presentation: Sergey Gladkov, the president of Logrus, is a co-author of the initiative and a member of the GALA board of directors since 2009.
GALA (The Globalization and Localization Association) is the largest international not-for-profit association in the translation industry. Currently GALA consists of over 250 member organizations from 45 countries. GALA conducts educational and research activities, and represents the interests of the translation industry at the global market. It has a well-developed infrastructure and uses its resources to develop the translation industry and enhance its efficiency.
